PARTS OF FLAG
Tab – Where silk meets pole
Silk – the fabric
Parade Rest – Right hand at tab, pole to right of body, bottom of pole on ground, pole vertical
Right Shoulder – flag straight up and down, flag in the middle of your body, right hand at tab, left hand at bottom/stopper and in front of belly button.
Hit – stop/start point of move
HAND & FEET POSITION
Free Hand – hand not being used
1st position – heels touch, turnout feet making V
2nd position – feet under shoulder, feet still turned out
Wide 2nd position – feet just past shoulder width
3rd Position – Feet placement with left foot toes forward, right heel placed in arch of left. (PRETTY FEET)
4TH Position – from 3rd step forward small step with right
5th position – from 1st, slide right back until right toe touches left heel; keep angles same
**These are color guard feet positions & NOT ballet.
TOASTER - KEEP THAT FLAG & POLE CLOSE TO YOUR BODY!!!
BASIC FLAG MOVES
Right Angle -
Back Angle – Left arm straight & parallel to floor, right arm pushes flag back
Around the World – start right shoulder, make small circle to left with tip of pole (keeping left hand/bottom @belly button), hit at right shoulder, reverse, end right shoulder.
Carve (figure eights)
Drop Spin -
Helicopter Spin -
Row the Boat - Make an oar rowing motion start on left side with silk leading completing a circle then move to right side.
